COSMETIC DENTAL BONDING

Do you have chips, dark or yellow fillings or spots on your front teeth? Do you have small spaces between your teeth or even small shaped teeth? Do you have dark holes between your teeth where your gums have receded?

Dr. Fernando Pessoa at Draper Smiles are artists in cosmetic bonding, a procedure that requires the highest level of skill and an absolute artistic eye to be able to choose the right materials and place them in a way that blends naturally with the remaining natural teeth.

Cosmetic tooth bonding is a process where the dentist attaches or “bonds” materials directly to the tooth. Advancements in dental bonding materials, such as porcelains and composite resins, can now more accurately replicate natural tooth structure, appearance, and function. Through bonding techniques, natural tooth enamel and the underlying dentin are fused to create a strong structure that looks and reacts much like the original tooth. This procedure is an excellent solution to chipped teeth and also serves as a superior filling material over the dark metals used more commonly in the past.

BONDING TO REPAIR BROKEN OR CHIPPED TEETH

Tooth bonding is used in several different ways, but is probably most useful for repairing chipped or malformed teeth. Bonding materials (called composite resin) and porcelain—are more natural in color and can be utilized to perfectly match the surrounding teeth making it difficult to discern there ever was a broken tooth.

It is common for us to use the same dental cosmetic materials and close small spaces, dark holes in between the teeth or use them to reshape teeth are small or poorly-shaped teeth.

Cosmetic Dental Bonding, in certain cases, can be utilized as a lower cost alternative to porcelain veneers, even though when done by a talented artistic dentist like Dr. Pessoa, the final esthetics can rival the porcelain material. The key in dental cosmetic bonding is being able to artistically choose and use the right materials for the right situations.
